Chess Teacher

JOSHUA ANDERSON
Joshua was born in North Carolina, but grew up in Berks County, PA. He graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Honors in Political Science. He also has a combination of 5 years of graduate work in the two fields.

Joshua learned to play chess at age six and taught his first chess class at the local library while still in high school. In 2006, he was hired by Silver Knights (now Shining Knights) where he still teaches some afterschool classes. In February 2013, he started Tri-Bridges Chess Club, located in Exton, PA, where chess players meet every week for free play. In addition to teaching chess, Joshua also runs 4 or 5 chess tournaments a month.
Over the course of his chess career, Joshua has worked with numerous students on US Chess Top 100 lists. He is also President of the Chess Journalists of America, editor of the PennsWoodPusher (state chess magazine of Pennsylvania), and over the last few years has had award-winning articles published in the three national chess magazines – Chess Life, American Chess Magazine, and The Chess Journalist.

Joshua currently lives in Exton with his lovely wife of 26 years, Brandy, one large, bossy cat, and one box turtle (who, like most turtles, is neither lovely nor bossy.)
